The Safest Way to Light and Burn a Candle

You have a candle! This will be fun, I am here to help make sure that you stay safe while you enjoy that candle, whether you got it from us or not. We are here to help you.

When you are ready to burn your candle, first read the warning label on your candle. It’s important to always thoroughly read the warning labels, only then are you ready to light your candle.

The second thing to do is trim your candle’s wick. Always trim a candle’s wick before lighting.  If you don’t trim down the wick before lighting a candle, then your wick will give off too much soot and smoke; and make the experience less enjoyable. Only trim your wick to about ¼” above the wax, if you cut too low then the candle may have some trouble catching fire.

Now it is time to light!

Enjoy the scent! But this is important, pay attention. You want to let the wax burn ALL THE WAY TO THE JAR! Wax has memory, if you do not let it burn all the way to the jar the first time, then when you burn it later it might not burn all the way to the edge. Instead, it could form a tunnel, which while it won’t affect the scent, it’s not as nice an aesthetic. It will look like this. THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT.

LET IT DO THIS

Interesting Fact: One nice quality of Shade Periwinkle Candles is that they have pretty good recovery and usually they can recover from a tunnel.

While it is burning, leave the candle in a place where the flame does not touch anything flammable. If necessary, place the candle on a heat-resistant surface to protect surrounding areas.  After 4 hours blow out your candle and place it in a stable place, and leave it be, to cool. The next time you want to burn your candle, trim the wick again. Light your candle and enjoy!
