When a “Normal Life” wasn’t possible, we built “Our Life” instead.

It was early 2020…..COVID was emerging.  Hannah had just finished schooling and didn’t know what to do next. Chronic medical issues made her feel like life hadn’t given her any options. It didn’t help that she spent two months in the hospital that year. The world in crisis only made it worse. Like so many others, she was feeling lost, isolated and aimless. 

She ordered a candle-making kit to pass the time in isolation. That soon turned into ordering more supplies and making more candles. She taught Lori to make a candle….they started making them together. Shared a couple with friends and family; gave them away as gifts. Sold a few to cover the cost of buying more supplies. The feedback was very positive. 

They started wondering if this hobby could turn into a business. Every business needs a name.

One of the birth defects Hannah was born with has a medical awareness ribbon the color of Periwinkle. “Shaded” sounded really cool with it…..Shaded Periwinkle!

May of 2020 they invited everyone they knew to a Zoom call to launch this little candle business….with dreams of not only giving Hannah purpose, but other medically complex people too. Maybe even support charities someday. 

Six years later they have met so many amazing people and have so many amazing stories to tell-all because of this little candle business.  It's been an incredible journey so far……

And they’re just getting started! 💜
